Carlile and Crow...Classic Combination
Blue October took the stage with a new 9 piece band. Led by Doyle Bramhall II from Eric Clapton's band, Blue October took the audience on a tour of her hits plus plenty of selections from her new album. She and her band were firing on all cylinders. She re-tooled many of her hits into funky, R&B flavored concoctions that went down like your favorite cocktail. The energy was outstanding despite less than a sell out crowd. They played for 2 hours and 15 minutes then followed that with a 3 song encore! Her vocal range is unbelievable and her songwriting is insightful and passionate. She more than set the stage for Brandi Carlile. Having never seen Blue October, and not being familiar with their music, I was anxious to check them out and listen to something new! Her 4 piece backing band was tight and the instrumentation was excellent. Brandi Carlile did not disappoint. I would not only attend this show again, I would recommend it to anyone, even the casual Brandi Carlile fan. Anyone with any interest in musicianship will enjoy the show.
